THE STORY OF
The trading name “Lychee Divine” was developed from exhibiting at numerous shows in Queensland and New South Wales. We have a retail outlet on the Bruce Highway, south of Maryborough named Lychee Divine that includes a Satellite Cellar Door and Visitor Centre where we sell our full range and other local, Queensland and Australian products.
We are passionate about keeping Australian lychees on the table all year round. This brought us to start value-adding our lychees in 2010. Taking awards from the start. We are the only commercial manufacturer of lychees in Australia producing awarding winning Liqueurs, Balsamic Vinegars, Sauces and now our fantastic Lychee Ice-cream range made by a gourmet ice cream producer on the Sunshine Coast.
Lychees are a difficult fruit to value add to, as before you start they have to be peeled and deseeded.
Our first Lychee liqueur was produced in 2010 from 800kg of hand peeled lychees. From that we made 900 bottles of Lychee Liqueur. These were sold in 6 weeks. We knew then we needed to investigate how we could do this without so much labour by our following Lychee season. We were able to modify a prototype machine to do this in a small way but using one person instead of 6.
This year 2016, we finally made our Sparkling Lychee Wine. It has been 2 years in the making and the result is fantastic. With the introduction of a wine we needed to rebrand the value-adding side that would represent a winery. So Lychee Hill Estate was born.
Next year we will introduce 3 new wines – a Sparkling Rosé, a still white and a still red wine. Our manufacturing has grown considerably due to the demand for our products. 2017 will bring a new factory to increase our productivity.
